¿Qué más?! 

Many in our community face the significant challenge of communicating effectively in Spanish when we begin to engage with Colombia and its cultures. We spend hours, weeks, months and even years trying to navigate the uncomfortable reality that with our adoption, regardless of our philosophical approach to it, our first language became English, Dutch, German, French, Norwegian, Swedish and so many others.

While ACÁ does not claim to be a language learning service, everyone on our team does claim some level of proficiency in Spanish and our collective experience allows us to provide a few quality resources for our community as we all continue to develop our Spanish language skills if that is our goal.

Whether you’re just starting on your journey with Spanish or you’ve been studying for 10 years, if your goal is to make significant progress, consider finding a virtual tutor who is living IN Colombia. Not only do you get instruction from a native speaker who is well-accustomed to teaching people who speak other languages, but you also have the opportunity to foster more intercultural awareness. Keep in mind, whatever tutor or teacher you find, they will likely not have an understanding of YOUR perceptions / philosophies surrounding adoption.
