Alianza of Colombian Adoptees

Let's continue to build and grow our community of global Colombian adoptees.

Join us on Wednesday, March 18th, from 8 to 9 PM EST for a "Charla" — an open and informal conversation in community.

Our "Charlas" are designed to be online spaces for meaningful dialogue, and that's what we envision for this meetup. No matter where you are in the world, there are major cultural, social, environmental, and political changes occurring right before our eyes, so building and reinforcing community ties and networks is more important now than ever. We hope you can make it!

Upcoming dates and times:

  • Saturday, April 11 10-11 am EST

  • Wednesday, May 13, 8-9 pm EST

  • Saturday, June 13 10-11 am EST

These events are for Colombian adoptees aged 18 and over only.

If you decide to join us, a Zoom link will be emailed to you one (1) hour before the event start time. Sign-up for March 18th and April 11th by clicking the buttons to the left (above for Smartphone view) and registering on our Eventbrite page.

Stay tuned as the other sign-ups will appear closer to the dates of the events.

We look forward to seeing you soon!

About

A Brief History

Overview

“The word home is virtually impossible to translate into other tongues, we are told by classicist Bartlett Giamatti. It is not a concept, not a place, but a state of mind where self-definition starts. It is origins. We can see the search for Home as a universal quest, but for the adopted person it is also a literal one. It is a quest for the beginning of one’s narrative; for the lost mother; for unconditional love; for meaning; for the recovery of lost time; for a coherent sense of self; for security; for form and structure; for grounding and centering.”

Lifton, B. J. (1995). Journey of the adopted self: A quest for wholeness. BasicBooks. (pp. 127-128).
